The Photo Below

I enjoy photography, ever since my father brought home a Nikon Coolpix E2200 after a round of golf competition. Even though it was not the most fantastic camera in the world, it has ‘trained’ me well- at least, well enough to hold a camera without shaky hands.

I have upgraded to a Canon 20D SLR, but am still at experimental stage. But then again, who isn’t? Run my Flickr page to see more.

This is a panaromic shot of a sunrise in Dieng Plateau, which is located near Wonosobo, Central Java, Indonesia. The name “Dieng” comes from Di Hyang which means “Abode of the Gods”.

It is the site for eight small Hindu temples from the 7th and 8th centuries, the oldest Hindu temples in Central Java, and the first known standing stone structures in Java. They are originally thought to have numbered 400 but only 8 remain.

But, the highlight of Dieng Plateau is its sunrise-viewing. From a hilltop, one can see 5 volcanic mountains amidst a bed of fluffy clouds, which shimmer as the morning’s first light is cast upon them.

It is by far, the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen.
